Are you the type of person who uses the same, simple password for every digital thing in your life? Can a hacker find out everything about you by entering 1-2-3-4 as your password?
Or are you the 40-character password type that includes uppercase, lowercase, numbers, characters and multi-factor authorization (but still have to save that password in MS Word or Apple Notes)?
Hopefully things are getting easier for us somewhere in the middle. If you can get into your laptop or your phone or tablet, you can get into your sites that require passwords.
I'm not sure how Intertek's IT and Cyber teams feel about this just yet so wait for further guidance here, but the evolution of digital access continues to progress.
Passkeys are part of the FIDO alliance, which sets the technological standards for them. Members of the alliance include all the major tech players: Apple, Amazon, Google and Meta. They are claimed to be safer as they are phishing resistant, and more convenient since nothing has to be remembered by the user. Traditional 2FA methods are also no longer needed. The biometric data you use to authenticate also isn't shared with Google or any other third parties.
