Scientists say they revived an extinct wolf species. A vote will decide their future.

I just read this interesting article: scientists say they’ve revived a wolf species once thought extinct, and now a global vote will decide whether it goes back into the wild or stays confined.

What struck me is how this blurs the line between science fiction and real life. The animals in question are genetically edited wolves designed to resemble the extinct dire wolf, but whether they truly are dire wolves is already a topic of debate.  Some experts say these creatures are gray wolves with modified genes, not perfect resurrected originals.

On the one hand this could open doors for restoring lost species and reinvigorating ecosystems. On the other hand, it raises big questions: What if these animals don’t fit into current habitats? What about risks to existing species or unintended consequences? Are we ready to make such decisions?

What do you think about bringing extinct animals back? Should we do it? Why or why not?
