Exciting sustainability news from my own backyard: Nike has named Cimarron Nix as its next Chief Sustainability Officer! With nearly 20 years of corporate experience, including leadership roles at HP, J. Crew, and Nike itself, Nix is stepping into a role that’s central to shaping the future of sport. She’ll lead enterprise-wide sustainability strategy, driving measurable progress toward Nike’s ambitious targets while guiding a team of embedded sustainability experts across the company.
Nike has already achieved a 74% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, surpassing its 2030 goal, and Nix will now tackle the more complex Scope 3 footprint, spanning global manufacturing and shipping.
Her appointment underscores Nike’s commitment to turning sustainability from a promise into tangible results, aligning with the Science Based Targets Initiative and the Paris Agreement goals. This isn’t just a leadership change, it’s a bold step forward in building a truly sustainable, innovative future for the company and the sport it serves.
Nike committed to reducing its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, which are created by its buildings, fleet vehicles and private jets, by 65% between 2015 and 2030. It has achieved the goal...which shows a 74% decrease.
