Talking About Mental Health

This week, Toto Wolff (Team Principle for Mercedes F1) shared his struggles with mental health and the therapy he has had over the last 18 years.

Toto shows that mental health problems can impact anyone, they can affect people over many years. Mental health problems are not a sign of weakness, they are like any other ailment of the human body, they need support and treatment.

I have and do suffer with mental health problems, but like Toto, I have found ways to manage them and know how to get support when I need it.

When I first started having issues, I knew nothing about how to manage them, and frankly thought I was weak, and something was wrong with me. It was through hearing about respected and successful people, that I came to understand that it impacts millions, and I wasn't alone.

Toto speaking up this week reminded me of the importance of talking about mental health and our experiences, especially for anyone struggling for the first time.

Be kind to yourself, be kind to others

“Some of the most successful people are very, very sensitive, and very, very sensitive means very, very vulnerable.” Toto Wolff
