A great reminder that cities must carefully plan their technological advancements to be inclusive of all residents and to deploy innovations that are in line with the needs of the population. "Smart" cities are really only as smart as their residents and if the people don't have the means or desire to participate then it's not going to succeed.

Truly smart cities recognize the ambiguity of lives and livelihoods, and they are driven by outcomes beyond the implementation of “solutions.”
