The technology, despite having been around for some time, is still relatively in its infancy. There is a time and place for "virtual" experiences, whether it's education or entertainment or industrial use. It just needs to mature and take hold. All the news hype talking about companies losing money on metaverse investments should be discounted by all the stories of Amazon, Meta/Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Adobe, Shopify, Samsung, and other major global brands continuing to spend billions on it.

It's coming. It's no longer if but rather when (and how).
