Work-Life Balance Is a Cycle, Not an Achievement

Becoming a new father completely shifted my priorities overnight, though I had some time to plan for it. I had to find a new work-life balance to fit my new priorities. Everyone has to find their own balance that works best for them, and this article outlines just how you can do that. But the thing is, just because you find a balance that works for you one year, doesn't mean that it will work for you the next.

Achieving better balance between professional and personal priorities boils down to a combination of reflexivity — or questioning assumptions to increase self-awareness — and intentional role redefinition. Importantly, our research suggests that this is not a one-time fix, but rather, a cycle that we must engage in continuously as our circumstances and priorities evolve.
