Every year on December 3rd, the world comes together to recognize the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a day to celebrate inclusion, accessibility, and the incredible contributions of people of all abilities.

More than one billion people around the world live with disabilities. Yet, far too often, physical, digital, and social barriers still limit participation and opportunity. This day reminds us that true progress isn’t just about removing those barriers; it’s about creating spaces where everyone feels empowered to lead, contribute, and thrive.

Inclusion isn’t an optional initiative or a “nice to have.” It’s the foundation of sustainable development and a vital part of achieving equality. The United Nations’ message is clear: no one should be left behind. When we design workplaces, technologies, and communities with accessibility in mind, we don’t just make life easier for some, we make life better for all.

Today is also a reminder that accessibility is not a one-time fix but rather it’s an ongoing promise. It’s about asking questions, listening to lived experiences, and committing to continuous improvement. When people of all abilities can fully participate, we create stronger communities, better solutions, and a more inclusive world.

Small actions make a big impact:

  • Review your next presentation, webpage, or document, is it accessible to all?

  • Ask a colleague or friend what inclusion looks like to them.

  • Celebrate the achievements of people with disabilities and help amplify their voices.

  • Commit to learning something new about accessibility this week.

Together, we can build a world where everyone, regardless of ability, belongs, contributes, and thrives.
