As the year comes to a close, I found myself drawn to this WTOP roundup of the stories from 2025 that gave us hope and made us feel good. It was a much-needed reminder that even in a year filled with uncertainty, stress, and difficult headlines, there were countless moments of kindness, resilience, and humanity unfolding quietly all around us.

From life-changing medical breakthroughs that helped people reconnect with the world and their loved ones, to second-chance programs that offered dignity, purpose, and new beginnings, these stories captured the best of what community can look like. There were everyday heroes who showed compassion simply because it was the right thing to do, children experiencing joy through inclusion and generosity, and elders sharing wisdom that reminded us how much perspective a lifetime can bring. None of these moments were flashy or driven by controversy, yet each one left a lasting impact because they centered on people showing up for one another. Reading through them felt like taking a deep breath at the end of a long year and remembering that goodness is still very much present.

As we move into a new year, I hope we carry these stories with us not just as feel-good moments, but as proof that small acts of care and connection truly matter.
