As we are getting deeper into this new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it actually means to build back ever better, not just in our work, but in our lives. A Psychology Today article I found a few weeks back really stayed with me because it challenged the way we often approach goals and change.

Instead of jumping straight into resolutions or ambitious checklists, we must first step back. Taking an honest look at what worked, what didn’t, and what truly mattered over the past year(s). That pause is powerful, it is crucial.

It creates space for clarity rather than pressure, and intention rather than noise.

What resonated most with me was the idea that the life we want doesn’t come from doing more, but from aligning more closely with our values. When we’re clear on what matters most, decisions become simpler. We spend less time reacting and more time moving deliberately in the right direction.

It also reminded me that growth isn’t always about acceleration. Sometimes it’s about recognizing the season we’re in and setting expectations that support sustainability, not burnout. Progress looks different at different stages and honoring that reality is part of building something better and more resilient.

For me, BBEB is about reflection, alignment, and forward momentum that’s grounded in purpose. It’s choosing direction over distraction and being thoughtful about what we carry forward and what we leave behind. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the idea of “starting fresh,” this approach offers a steadier, more meaningful path.

Here’s the article that sparked this reflection and it is well worth the read, if now is your time too.
