A Doorstep Delivery That Restored Faith in Humanity

A simple food delivery turned into something extraordinary.

In Manchester, Tennessee, a woman reviewing her doorbell footage noticed something that stayed with her. The man delivering her Starbucks order was 78 years old, slowly making his way up the steps before carefully leaving the bag at the door. His name was Richard Pulley.

Richard and his wife had returned to work delivering for DoorDash after financial pressures forced them out of retirement. Like many older Americans, they were simply trying to make ends meet.

The woman who received the delivery shared the video online and started a fundraiser to help him. What happened next was remarkable. Thousands of strangers responded, and within days more than $500,000 had been raised to help Richard finally retire.

It is easy to focus on the technology that made this story travel so quickly. But the real story is simpler.

One person noticed.

Thousands chose to care.

And together, they gave someone his retirement back.
