Making cacao beans more drought resistant using fungus

As climate change continues to alter growing patterns, some scientists are studying and working with crops and other harvestables to see if they can alter growing regions so that crops may continue to thrive in a changing world.

While this study examined the cacao beans, an ingredient in chocolate (good) to pharmaceuticals (also good), imagine what changes this kind of research could have on other crops throughout the world.

A new study published in the journal mSphere suggests using a fungal endophyte to boost drought tolerance in cacao.
