As severe storms and natural disasters are striking more frequently, it's good to be prepared. I'm not talking about the all-out Doomsday Preppers, necessarily, but there are some smart precautions you can take. At work you have fire drills in case of emergency. If you have children you might discuss with them what to do in case of an emergency in the house. It's just smart prep to avoid a potentially worse outcome. 

This article talks about creating a "go bag" and keeping it up-to-date and in a convenient place where you can grab it and run if needed. Items such as non-perishable food, water, medicines, first-aid kit, emergency contact numbers, and I'd even add in a flashlight. 

We can't live in fear, but it never hurts to have a plan.
