You have a great design for a website or product, you have ensured the design is accessible and pass it over for development. The product that returns isn't accessible and you are wondering what went wrong….
Accessibility is only just beginning to appear in traditional education tracks and therefore, many people don't understand accessibility or how to implement it. This is especially true for software development. I came across this great article on how to communicate the accessibility requirements to developers.
The article is very practical and includes links to some great resources - if you are a product designer or developer, this is well worth a read.
Just as we designers, who are responsible for the quality of the products we build, do not receive reinforced training on accessibility in traditional bachelor’s and postgraduate courses and courses in general, developers also need this study. Mainly in cases of self-taught and/or people who migrated from the area. Accessibility still suffers greatly from the lack of information and it is necessary to take a specialized course on the subject in order to master good practices.
