Home are being built today without considering the populations requirements over time. Small changes to new homes like one step free entrance, larger door ways and showers will benefit all home owners, not just those in wheelchairs.
I personally would have welcomed a step free entry when my children were younger and in a pushchair or larger door ways when trying to get new furniture into the house.
According to Robert Pradolin, director of Housing All Australians and former general manager of Frasers Property Australia, “as we get older and live longer, we’ll need houses that are different … in the long-term we must be investing in proper, well-equipped and well-designed houses.”
