La plataforma "World Fight Against ALS" ha presentado una solicitud al Europarlamento reclamando investigación, apoyo económico y acceso a tratamientos para mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes con ELA.

En España, se diagnostican alrededor de 900 casos de esta enfermedad al año y la esperanza de vida está entre dos y cinco años, aunque muchos pacientes fallecen al poco tiempo de recibir el diagnótico.
