A pair of paddlers nicknamed "the Water Wombles" are teaching Scottish schoolchildren how to turn the tide on pollution.

Charlotte Mégret and Neil Smith - known as 'the Rubbish Paddlers' - are on a mission to clean up Scotland's stunning waterways, one river at a time.

Their work with schools has led to them being nominated in the new Learning for Sustainability Awards, run by the Daily Record and Education Scotland.

The couple, who live in Maybole, Ayrshire, are both outdoor educators. As they paddle around waterways, they do their bit for the environment by upcycling finds and sharing their experience with children along the way.
