The Royal National Institute of the Blind have developed an Alexa Skill enabling visually impaired and blind UK residents to access over 34,000 books in audio format.

The books have been available via a website, but the process of accessing the books involves downloading them to a PC or Phone. The new Alexa skill simplifies access to the library, allowing members to search and listen to books using voice commands only. The skill needs to be configured, but is accessible with a screen reader, empowering those with sight loss to setup and access the library themselves.

The simplicity of voice commands via Alexa, empowers even the most technophobic to find and listen to books.
