Yin Qi Xie, a Toronto native, has an uplifting story. As a long-time ballerina Yin Qi Xie, was at a low point in her life and decided to break away from it and tried boxing. Boxing is a male-dominated sport and she had trouble finding equipment that fit her. The article states that it is hard to find women's boxing equipment and there is not much choice or variety. A typical pair of boxing gloves are too long for women's arms, and generally too wide around the wrists so they do not absorb the impact properly. Often women result to using children's equipment.
