Waste recycling in Malta tripled

Since the beginning of the year, plastic recycling has tripled in the Maltese islands. WasteServ said in a statement that 2021 was a record year in waste sustainable management and that Malta has moved away from the last position in the European Union scoresheets. WasteServ added that when one considers the whole recycling chain, the rate is over 60%, that is double the previous registered rate. WasteServ has already announced that 2021 will be the most productive year in terms of processed recycled material since its establishment in 2002. Some 18,000 tons of paper, metal, glass and plastic will be recycled and returned in the economy.
