Target to have 65,000 electric cars on Maltese roads within nine years
Malta has clear targets it wishes to meet by the year 2030 to reduce the emissions, including new plans for transport. The Government wants an incentive for the purchase of electric vehicles so that within the next nine years, in Malta there will be around 65,000 electric or hybrid vehicles. At the moment there are 6,000 electric or hybrid cars. “The strategy has shown us that for the next ten years, where we are seeing the global market for electric cars is still being developed, it is wiser for the Government to offer stronger incentives including a grant of €12,000 for a car, so that one can make this transition more consciously without impact.”
