Lost and found: fishermen will now be able to recover gear and equipment lost at sea

A new service from the Ministry of Fisheries will allow fishermen who lose gear and equipment at sea while fishing to report this to the department, by giving details of their whereabouts and sending divers to try to collect what was lost by fishermen. When and if recovered, it will be handed over to the fisheries department and then handed over to the fishermen concerned. The Minister responsible for this sector, Anton Refalo, said that this service would be possible thanks to national funds and is a testament to the Government’s commitment to combating maritime pollution while serving fishermen.
