Un equipo de médicos de EE UU ha anunciado la posible curación de la primera mujer con VIH gracias a un trasplante de sangre de cordón umbilical. La paciente recibió el tratamiento para intentar acabar con la leucemia que sufría. La intervención contra ese cáncer sanguíneo parece haber barrido el virus de su organismo, según han anunciado hoy sus médicos en un congreso sobre retrovirus celebrado en Denver (EE UU) cuyas conclusiones ha adelantado The New York Times.
