Phones are devices that myself and billions of others around the world on a daily basis. Every few years (or even sooner) we like to get the newest in technology and a lot of us (including myself) don't think twice about the impact that throwing these devices away has on the environment. However, after reading an article about how Samsung is trying to create phones that are more eco friendly it gives me hope that we can both have the newest technology while protecting the Earth we live on. Samsung has start an initiative called "Galaxy for the planet" which focuses on eliminating plastic from their packing and also their new Galaxy smartphones will be made using fishing nets, water bottles and old CD cases. While in most countries Apple is the preferred brand of smartphone, there are still millions of Samsung users worldwide and the company thinks by making its products more ecofriendly consumers might be more willing to make the switch. This may lead to other large phone companies such as Huawei or Apple making their products more ecofriendly in turn. This article is one example of how companies worldwide are seeing the impact their products have on the environment and attempting to find a better way to produce products for a more sustainable future.
