Over the last 2 years, I have been learning and using Braille. It allows me to check spellings and interact with a computer, without it reading the screen to me.

While learning, it was hard to check I had correctly produced my braille. This new app uses Machine Learning on the iPhone to translate Grade 1, UEB Braille into text on the phone. This would have been useful for me, allowing me to check my braille.

Aaron Stephenson developed the app after learning Braille and is looking to expand it beyond Grade 1 Braille.

This app will help learners and teachers check the braille they have produced, but more importantly, allows everyone to check braille. For example, a restaurant has a new menu in braille, but they can't proof it, and don't know if it is correct without someone who can read the Braille. This app allows anyone to check what they have.
