As we all move towards a more sustainable world, moving to electric vehicles and reducing our dependency on fossil fuels, there is still a significant element that uses rare materials.... Batteries.

Lithium Ion is the battery technology of choice today, but is dependent on mining rare materials, which often involves child labour. Lithium Sulphyr batteries have been around for some time, but have a much shorter life, until a recent discovery. The breakthrough shows signs of allowing a battery to last at least twice as many charge cycles and three times the capacity in the same dimensions.

The new battery technology could expand EV's range by 3 times, allows for phone and laptops to last 3 times longer and provides opportunities for electric planes and chips.
