Los expertos coinciden en que para reducir el volumen de CO2 en la Tierra vamos a tener que usar también nuevas herramientas de captura de carbono, pero, entre las que se barajan hoy en día falta una solución que muchos científicos creen que es sencilla, eficiente y barata de aplicar: aprovechar la capacidad natural del fitoplancton marino para absorber CO2 del aire.

Hay tecnologías capaces de absorber ese CO2, pero la captura y el almacenamiento de carbono por ahora es caro y no acaba de ser eficiente del todo.
