My new home has been chosen as an example of how to design cities and how to leverage industrial design to "generate better products, systems, services, and experiences; better business and industry; and ultimately a better environment and society." Among the commuters who commute back and forth from San Diego and Tijuana everyday, to the shared infrastructure projects and business relationships, these two cities showcase that a community doesn't stop at a country's border.
The initiative recognizes cities for their constructive use of design to drive social, cultural, and environmental change and improve the overall quality of life. This week, San Diego and Tijuana have been named the World Design Capital of 2024, due to their human-centric design strategies and their cross-border collaboration.
