This isn't an article about saying "Thank you" to people in your life. It's about recognizing some of the smaller things in life that bring you joy. Sometimes these things are overshadowed by the bigger things (or at least perceived to be bigger things) and we don't appreciate them as much as we should.
Our time is valuable... we have so much to do... very important things... people rely on us... so many people... so many things... big things... really important things... gotta go-go-go...
At some point you have to stop and smell the proverbial roses. Maybe even the actual roses.
While it's great to dream big dreams and accomplish big things -- I hope everyone reading this does -- it's also important to stop and be grateful for the little things along the way. It's the little things that bring you joy, make you smile, trigger a memory, cause you to think, or just reflect on what you have rather than what you're chasing in life.
So often we fret over the “big” things in life that the “small” things really do take on a seemingly insignificant quality. Of course, this is only because of our state of mind. I have come to realize that if we only shift our perception away from worrying about the “big” things with which we have little to no control, we make space to celebrate the “small” things that we most certainly have some impact to enjoy.
