Katie Rose Guest Pryal shared a post on LinkedIn highlighting her recent article in Phsycology Today about the difference between accommodation and accessibility. I found the diagram powerful in highlighting that providing accommodations isn't sufficient to say that you are accessible.
What is the difference between accessibility and accommodations? As I’ve said before, “Accommodations are not accessibility. Accommodations are special exceptions made for one disabled person who has to jump through lots of hoops to get them.” On the other hand, “Accessibility is the creation of a space that is hospitable to and usable by disabled people, no hoops required.”
