We've already seen a significant trend in the way people search using traditional tools such as Google, Bing, Baidu, etc. Rather than simply typing “TV repair” into a search engine, many people are now asking direct questions as if Google were a trusted friend or confidante, such as “How do I fix the audio on my Samsung TV model QN55Q70CAF?” We've learned that you get much more targeted answers that way.

In the very near future, according to Gartner, people will transition those questions to newly developed AI chatbots that will answer the question for you.

The REAL question to me is whether traditional search powerhouses like Google, Microsoft, even TikTok for younger generations, will evolve fast enough to fend off new entries into the market. As tools like ChatGPT start connecting to “real-time internet information”, the reliability of their answers will get better and more relevant.

The battle for information is only just beginning. Will Google and Bing go the way of Alta Vista? Or will they survive and advance? To be determined…
