Meet Rakus: Sumatran Orangutan & (Self-) Healer

Wow, this is absolutely mind-blowing! It's incredible to see such intelligence and resourcefulness in our primate relatives. As you'll read, the fact that Rakus instinctively knew how to apply the plant poultice to a wound (and that it actually worked!) is just remarkable. 

A Sumatran orangutan in Indonesia has self-medicated using a paste made from plants to heal a large wound on his cheek, say scientists.
