Hitachi Energy Commits $6 Billion To Fuel "Electrification"

In April this year, Hitachi Energy committed $1.5 Billion to accelerate energy infrastructure products. Last week they pledged another $4.5 Billion toward transmission & distribution systems, plus other pieces of the energy ecosystem.

It's a significant effort as the world is at the intersection of “Electrification of Everything” and Net Zero economy. Digital tools require electricity – lots of it. Companies need to discover innovative ways to either produce energy more efficiently, distribute it more efficiently, or use it more efficiently.

One thing we know for certain is that the world isn't turning away from digitization and electrification. Instead, we're sprinting toward it at light speed. New infrastructure (plus new thinking, new investment, and new technology) is required to get us there.

“Electricity will be the backbone of the entire energy system and the change is happening faster than many thought possible,” declared Hitachi Energy CEO Claudio Facchin in a press statement dated June 7. “The world is in a race to transform energy systems,” he added.
