The advent of Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) has transformed diabetes management. A tiny sensor, affixed to the upper arm, transmits glucose levels to a smartphone every five minutes.
Dexcom, a leading CGM provider, recognized that some customers found it cumbersome to stay within phone range and has now enabled a direct connection to the Apple Watch, offering greater flexibility for users.
Previously, Dexcom allowed users to check their glucose readings on their watch, but only if the phone was nearby. The newest update eliminates the need for the phone to be in proximity to gather the data.
Dexcom G7, a continuous glucose monitoring system that allows people with diabetes to track their blood sugar levels in real time, announced Wednesday it's integrating directly with Apple Watch, so G7 users can leave their iPhone behind and still get glucose insights.
