The recently launched ferry called Sea Change is a 70-foot-long vessel that can carry 75 passengers. It taxis, for now, a fairly short distance from one point in the San Francisco Bay to another, but the potential is much greater. And what makes it unique is that it's Hydrogen powered.

It's not only clean energy but it delivers a better experience for passengers, eliminating the smell and loud noise of traditional diesel engines. It also cuts out the vibration, which makes it feel more like a sailboat on the water than a large commercial ferry.

Hydrogen power, though expensive for now, is beginning to catch on in many different industries. It has a number of performance benefits over battery power, and it doesn't create an entire overhaul of infrastructure. Hydrogen power uses similar fueling infrastructure as today's diesel and regular gasoline – it's just a cleaner product.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming months and years about Hydrogen fuel.
