SMA the infant formula brand has announced that all packaging will include NaviLens codes, enabling low vision and blind customers to identify the right product and access crucial instructions.
SMA is the latest brand to start including NaviLens on packaging which initially started with Kellogs and has expanded to include Pringles and Muller.
The RNIB have been supporting SMA in their journey to make packaging more accessible. You can listen to an interview with Fiona Barker from Nestle to hear about the journey > 524: Tech Talk 524: SMA Nutrition, 11 Labs App, Suno AI — RNIB Tech Talk — Overcast
As blind person, I welcome every step towards all packaging having NaviLens on them, it really does make it easier to find products, ingredients and instructions.
John Worsfold, head of Solutions Innovation at RNIB, commented: “Blind and partially sighted parents should have the same freedom, independence and choice as sighted customers when it comes to buying products and accessing on-pack information. Currently, important information on packaging can often be in very small print, making it difficult or impossible for people with sight loss to read.
