AI could help identify high-risk heart patients

A new artificial intelligence (AI) system, Optimise, has been developed by the University of Leeds in collaboration with healthcare professionals. This cutting-edge technology has been trained on a vast dataset consisting of over two million patients' health records.

By leveraging this massive pool of information, Optimise is able to identify individuals at high risk of developing conditions that may lead to life-threatening heart problems. Interestingly, the researchers discovered that many of these patients were unaware of their condition or had not received appropriate treatment, despite having access to medications that could significantly lower their risk factors.

Through its advanced predictive capabilities, Optimise holds great promise in revolutionizing primary care by empowering general practitioners (GPs) with valuable insights that can inform targeted interventions and preventive measures. This innovative approach has the potential to save lives by detecting and managing potentially fatal heart conditions early on, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and overall population health.
