This article describes the uplifting success that the US Department of Veterans Affairs is seeing in Tennessee with equine therapy. The Center for Equine Recovery (CERV) helps veterans manage trauma by teaching them to work with horses, which mirror their handlers' emotions, promoting self-awareness, confidence, and patience.

According to CERV, horses mirror their guide or rider and provide a physical reflection of a veteran’s emotions. With this feedback, a veteran can better see, process, and work through their behaviors.
