Meta, in partnership with Sage Geosystems, is tapping into geothermal energy to power its U.S. data centers. This initiative, part of Meta's broader sustainability goals, aims to generate 150 MW of renewable geothermal power, with the first phase expected to be operational by 2027. The project supports Meta's ongoing push to reduce its carbon footprint and meet the increasing energy demands of its AI-driven infrastructure.
To date, the tech giant has contracted more than 12,000 MW in renewable energy projects, positioning itself as one of the largest corporate buyers of renewable energy globally.
