This school in Stafford County, Virginia completed the installation of solar panels on its roof that will help to generate 54 million kilowatt hours of clean energy and offset 41,583 tons of CO2. The system, which includes 3,300 solar panels, is predicted to save the school system an estimated $2.8 million in electric bills over the next 25 years.

All great stuff. But here's the really juicy bit:

The company that installed the system – New York based Madison Energy Infrastructure (MEI) – has helped integrate the science of solar power into the school's curriculum. Students can view real-time data from the solar panels and teachers can integrate this into their science lessons. MEI even has virtual reality educational tours of the rooftop so the students can see the system without having to take a “field trip” to the roof.

It's real-life STEM education that will help to inspire the next generation of innovators.
