Solving The Hard Problem Of Decarbonizing Cement

This article discusses how startups are tackling the challenge of decarbonizing cement, a material responsible for approximately 8% of global CO₂ emissions. Cement production traditionally relies on heating limestone to extremely high temperatures, releasing significant amounts of carbon dioxide both from the chemical reaction and the energy used to heat the kilns. Several startups are introducing new methods to reduce or eliminate these emissions.

According to the report, the company recycled or diverted over 10 million tons of landfill ash for use in low-carbon cement.
