A team of scientists at Oxford University have developed a solar cell thin enough to be applied to everyday objects such as electronics, clothing, or even buildings and cars. With these new cells being as efficient as traditional solar panels, turning energy from sunlight into electricity, and continuing to improve, it's possible they replace the need for traditional solar farms. Researchers believe these solar cells will continue to reduce solar’s cost and also make it the most sustainable form of renewable energy. “Since 2010, the global average cost of solar electricity has fallen by almost 90%, making it almost a third cheaper than that generated from fossil fuels”.
