Eniola Shokunbi, a sixth-grader in Connecticut, initiated an $11.5 million project to provide air filters for schools across the state. She first designed a simple yet effective filter using household items, which demonstrated impressive virus-filtering capabilities in classroom tests. Her project gained support from state legislators and the EPA, leading to funding approval to expand the air filter initiative to schools statewide. Shokunbi hopes this effort will improve classroom air quality across the U.S.
