LG is no stranger to innovation. In fact, they're no stranger to innovative displays that can stretch, bend, twist, and wrap. This latest version, however, can stretch up to 50%, going from a 12-inch LED display to an 18-inch display. And durability? According to the article it's been tested to stretch up to 100,000 times.
Think of the possibilities where a high-resolution display could wrap around an object, a building, or even a person. Technology is pushing us further and further into “what if?” territory rather than incremental gains territory. I'm here for all of it.
This type of tech isn't something that will just show up on the market on its own. Instead, it will likely be applied to specific use cases, where there's a need of a display that can conform to different shapes and sizes. LG thinks it could be "widely applied" in industries such as fashion, wearables, and mobility.
