Oxford University Press announced that it's word of the year – as voted by the public – is “Brain rot”.

It's defined as “the supposed deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as the result of overconsumption of material (now particularly online content) considered to be trivial or unchallenging”

While social media can be an excellent source of information and entertainment, it's absolutely contributing to a zombie-like state for many. Scrolling has taken the place of talking, or even doing in some cases. We've managed to somehow become connected AND disconnected at the same time.

Anyway… I'm not judging. I'm as guilty as the next person. Maybe (probably) even more so. It's just a good reminder to put the device down every now and again and pick our eyes up. There's plenty of material we can view/learn/experience in the physical world too.
