How many times have we seen it, heard it, and read it? “New company making cars that can fly!” And yet here we are more than a century later, and the only flying vehicles making headlines are drones attacking New Jersey.

Anyway…

I'm still fascinated by this and will be until it's a reality. So here's yet another “new company making cars that can fly.” California-based Airhart Aeronautics has a goal to make personal flying as simple as driving a car. You don't need to learn how to fly a plane – you simply need to know how to drive a car, that flies

The company is creeping forward with investment money and gaining approvals from the FAA, which is never easy. And one advantage Airhart claims is that it will take approximately ONE HOUR to learn how to use their vehicles, a far cry from learning how to fly an Airbus 300.

The FAA will still require people to get a private pilot's license in order to operate anything that takes off into the sky, but if the vehicle itself is simple to use the adoption could be far greater. Can I fly it using my iPhone? Is there a single dashboard panel like my car, or does it need all the switches and dials and gauges?

So let's go already. Get me something that can fly above traffic, change the scenery of my commute, and shorten my travel times wherever I'm headed.
