Instead of sitting in gridlock New York City traffic, or grabbing a strap and taking public transportation into the city, commuters from Long Island and Norther New Jersey now have a third option for getting to work: helicopter, courtesy of Blade Urban Air Mobility.

The prices aren't for everyone, but they're starting to come back down to earth. It's still not inexpensive at $95 each way, plus a $195 annual fee, but those bridge tolls and parking garages aren't getting any less expensive either. According to the article, “The service would give residents of wealthy enclaves in Nassau County and northern New Jersey the ability to get from an airport to Manhattan’s west side in about five minutes.”

If you're a time-is-money kind of person, this could be for you.

Blade has a heliport in Manhattan's Hudson Yards neighborhood at 30th Street and 12th Avenue, so it would still be a good walk to an office from there. But if you're interested in saving a little time, doing something a little different, maybe feeling a bit cutting-edge ("Blade" pun intended) maybe it's worth trying. Plus, the company is transitioning to a fleet of more quiet, electric helicopters so its reducing emissions as well.
