In 2024, the Intertek team at the Cortland, NY Electrical Lab demonstrated the true spirit of generosity and community through their outstanding efforts in fundraising and volunteering. Led by their dedicated Kindness Committee, the lab raised an impressive $3,143 and contributed 224 volunteer hours to support local organisations and initiatives.
From helping those in need to supporting community-focused programmes, the funds raised went toward a variety of impactful causes including:
- Aid for Victims of Violence
- Helping Hands Caring Heart
- Alzheimer's Care Facility
- One Too Many 5K (Child Protection Advocacy)
- CAPCO Coat Drive
- Catholic Charities Food Drive
- Cortland Salvation Army
- CNY Snap (Animal Shelter)
Equally inspiring were the 224 hours the team devoted to hands-on efforts across several initiatives. Some of the highlights were:
- Our Earth Day Clean-Up, beautifying public spaces and promoting environmental sustainability
- Maintaining the Lime Hollow Nature Trail, preserving a cherished community resource
- The Cortland Free Library, ensuring continued access to learning and literacy
- The Catholic Charities Food Drive, showing the team's strong commitment to addressing food insecurity
- The team’s involvement in the Dairy Parade, celebrating local heritage and unity
The impact of these efforts extends far beyond the monetary value or hours contributed. For the team, it has fostered a culture of collaboration, purpose, and compassion. For our community, it has provided critical resources, hope, and a reminder that they are not alone.
The Kindness Committee’s leadership has not only united the Cortland lab team around shared goals but also inspired others to contribute in meaningful ways. One team member commented:
“It feels incredible to see the direct impact we’re making in our community. Whether it’s raising funds, or simply showing up, every small effort adds up to something big.”
