Back in February, the World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network spotlighted three standout facilities in the built environment sector for leading the way in sustainability.
In Ohio, Novelis uses 97% recycled aluminium and has cut Scope 3 emissions by 53%, achieving a GHG intensity far below the industry average—supporting its path to carbon neutrality by 2050.
Schneider Electric’s Wuxi campus in China hit net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions eight years early. With AI-powered eco-design and carbon tracking, it has also reduced Scope 3 emissions by 65% and water use by 15%.
In Germany, Siemens’s Fürth site is on track for net-zero by 2026. Despite a 145% increase in output, energy-saving measures have reduced total energy use and boosted efficiency by 64%.
These sites show how digital tools and sustainable design can dramatically lower environmental impact while improving performance.
