The government’s decision to halt new industries within 10 km of the Sundarbans gives us hope. Led by Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, it’s a step in the right direction.
But the real protection? That comes from us—spreading awareness, cutting down waste, and standing by the forest and its people.
The government has decided to prohibit any new industrial unit and project from being established within 10 kilometres of the Ecologically Critical Area (ECA) surrounding the Sundarbans.
